Nondestructive Testing Newsgroup Charter

sci.techniques.testing.nondestructive

A newsgroup dedicated to the exchange of information and discussion of
issues relating to nondestructive testing of materials and structures.
Anyone interested will be welcome to participate in discussions about,
but not limited to:

1. NDT methods: x-radiography, acoustic emission, penetrant,
ultrasonics, magnetic particle, visual, thermography, eddy
   current, leak testing, neutron radiography.
2. Related NDT Methods: near infrared and Raman spectroscopy, magnetic
resonance imaging and/or spectroscopy, interferometry, shearography,
   and others
3. NDT societies: the American Society for Nondestructive
Testing,New Zealand NDT Association,Canadian Society of NDT and other
   NDT societies.
4. Realated NDT societies: American Society for Testing of Materials,
American Society of Mechanical Engineering, American Welding Society and
   others.
5. Employment opportunities within the NDT field.
6. Educational resources.
7. Upcoming NDT Conferences.
8. Process monitoring and control.
9. Medical applications of NDT.

People who will post will want to know (or know more) about one
of the nine listed above.

Nondestructive testing (NDT) is a multi-disciplined field of science
that is concerned with the evaluation, inspection, testing, and
characterization of materials and structures through methods that
do not significantly alter the material or structure. This group,
sci.techniques.testing.nondestructive, will be a place for the exchange of
information and the discussion of issues relating to nondestructive testing
of materials. No advertisements, except for individual employment, will be
acceptable for this group.

Not only does NDT draw upon multiple disciplines in science and
engineering but with the advent of international standards, such as
ISO 9000, NDT practitioners will increasingly need to be in contact
with one another regardless of nationality, and Usenet would be an
excellent vehicle for this type of communication.
